Background
In 1941, Don Jorge Salles Cuervo branched out from his renowned tequila making family and bought his own distillery. He launched El Tequileño in 1959. Today the brand is still family owned, with a third generation distiller descendant at the helm. Embracing modern technology like autoclaves and roller mills, they also continue traditional processes of using copper pot stills, spring water, and excluding additives. One of the unique characteristics of the brand is using mango tree yeast in the fermentation. El Tequileño has been a long time favorite for locals in Jalisco, including at the infamous La Capilla bar, and has now expanded into the international market.
