Brand Background

Don Aureliano Hernández Martínez is the oldest son of Don Cosme Hernández. The family has been making mezcal for five generations in San Baltazar Guelavila and Sola la Vega zones. Gente de Mezcal used wild agaves for small batch productions of up to 250-300 liters. It uses oak for the cooking of the piñas in the earthen pits and fermentation takes place in oak vats.

Max co-founded Mezcalistas with Susan way back in 2012. Before that he was a journalist at Salon.com and The San Francisco Chronicle.
