Michoacán is part of the Denominacion de Origen (DO) for mezcal. It additionally is home to Charanda, a Mexican rum that has its own DO. It is bordered by Colima, Jalisco, Guanajuato,  Queretéro, Estado de Mexico and Guerrero.
