Nose
The first aromas remind of freshly cut grass and citrus blossoms, with something deeper underneath like sandalwood and cedar. On the nose, we picked up citrus oils — orange peel and lemongrass — mixed with the scent of marigold petals. There’s a soft woodiness too, probably from the fermentation in wooden tubs: pine, sandalwood, or even a hint of cedar. The overall impression is bright and aromatic, like an ofrenda filled with flowers, herbs, and fruit — vibrant yet grounded.
Taste
The texture is silky and lightly oily, and the flavor moves beautifully from citrus and lemongrass to something more earthy and mineral. The taste evolves with every sip. We found notes of marigold, pine resin, and citrus oil, all balanced by a medium body and a subtle sweetness. The finish lingers for a long time with traces of lemongrass and citrus zest. It’s one of those mezcales that unfolds slowly — a rhythm of light and depth, freshness and calm.

Method / Background Notes
This special edition really captures the spirit of Día de los Muertos — the balance between joy and remembrance. It feels floral and bright but also grounded and reflective. Each element comes together with an easy grace, the kind that invites you to slow down and savor it.
It pairs beautifully with food — citrus ceviche or aguachile with orange or tangerine, roasted butternut squash or sweet potato with rosemary and nuts, chicken with a citrus-sage glaze, or a lighter mole like red chocolate or pumpkin seed. The acidity and floral tones lift each dish while the earthy notes bring warmth and harmony.Overall, Destilado con Cempasúchil is elegant and emotional — a mezcal that bridges the floral world of Oaxacan marigold altars with the rich, natural essence of agave. It’s layered, expressive, and full of heart. This limited release feels like a true ofrenda in a glass — a celebration of light, memory, and the enduring spirit of Oaxaca.
