Where is it grown?
Size and shape varies greatly depending on phenotype. From 2 feet to 16 feet tall. Generally growing upright post-like with a "pata/foot" of un-penca'ed growth near ground, and pencas above, sometimes dead/dried pencas and live pencas present on same plant. Color varying greatly depending on phenotype. Many phenotypes are cultivated. Often used as live-fencing. 7-17 years
Mode of Reproduction
Genrally seed and hijuelos, some phenotypes are only avaiable through hijuelo.
The Karwinskii family is large and bountiful, especially in its homeland of Oaxaca where different varieties have very different names which may even overlap with other species.Tripon is grown almost exclusively in Santa Catarina Minas.In Santa Catarina Minas Tobasiche is frequently called "largo."
